Mihir R. Bhatt, architect and planner, leads All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI) since 1995 focusing on the affected population at the intersection of the humanitarian crisis, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation and mitigation in over 50 cities and 8 districts of India. His work involves shaping public policy; building local capacity; steering innovative pilots; supporting evaluation, monitoring, and learning; and co-creating a bottom up knowledge for common use. Currently, he is working on creative ways to build the local capacity of family farmers and female farmers reflecting and adapting to changing climate; and building resilience with a focus on extreme heat and floods with and by affected small businesses, casual labour, minorities, and migrants in urban areas.
