The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is pleased to announce its involvement in the Berlin Urban Nature Pact, a global initiative aiming at halting and reversing biodiversity loss to put nature on a path to recovery for the benefit of people and the planet in cities by 2030.
The initiative, led by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and the Municipality of Berlin, will call for cities to implement bold actions to protect urban nature. IUCN will support Municipalities in the draft and implementation of local Action Plans, building on its Membership, Global Commissions and wealth of knowledge products.
The Pact was launched at CBD COP16 (Cali, Colombia, October 2024). More information on the Pact is available here.
