IUCN will contribute to the World Urban Forum 13, taking place from 17–22 May 2026 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Convened by UN‑Habitat, WUF13 is the leading global platform on sustainable urbanization, bringing together governments, cities and partners to address the global housing challenge under the theme “Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities.”

A key highlight of IUCN’s engagement will be a joint session with UN‑Habitat, called From Homes to Habitats – Measuring Nature-Positive Housing for Climate Resilience. Convened by IUCN together with UN‑Habitat, ICLEI, FAO, the City of Berlin and the Research Centre of the Park City Index, the session will explore how housing can become a driver of climate adaptation and biodiversity outcomes, moving beyond shelter to support resilient and nature‑positive urban systems.
This collaboration highlights the importance of the IUCN–UN‑Habitat partnership in bridging scientific knowledge and global urban policy. By combining UN‑Habitat’s leadership on sustainable urbanization with IUCN’s expertise on ecosystems and biodiversity, the session aims to connect measurement frameworks with real-world implementation.
WUF13 offers both in‑person and virtual participation, with access to sessions and networking through the official event platform and mobile application.
