The 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) taking place in Montreal, Canada, will attract policy-makers, international organisations, stakeholders and civil society to discuss future strategies to protect biodiversity at a global scale. The Conference, held from December 7 – 19, 2022, has set ambitious goals for Parties, including the finalisation and adoption of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, with the goal to achieve a nature-positive future and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030.
As global authority on nature and biodiversity protection, IUCN will join leaders and organisations in advocating for more effective actions as outlined in the IUCN Position Papers for CBD COP15. Given the increasing role played by local authorities and cities in global efforts to protect biodiversity and foster sustainable development, the IUCN Urban Team will contribute to the discussions and shed light on the work that has been carried out in collaboration with a wide range of partners.
The IUCN Urban Team is therefore glad to invite all those interested in engaging with us in order to know more about our work, the IUCN Urban Nature Index, and how to be part of the change.
