Singapore Index on Cities’ Biodiversity

Singapore Index on Cities’ Biodiversity

The Singapore Index on Cities’ Biodiversity (CBI) is a self-assessment tool for cities to evaluate and monitor the progress of their biodiversity conservation efforts against their own individual baselines. The index contains a set of indicators divided into three categories: native biodiversity, ecosystem services provided by biodiversity, and governance and management of biodiversity. It is intended for use by local governments and encourages an implementation cycle of three years. Over the past decade, the index has been implemented in hundreds of cities worldwide. Learning from these experiences, the Singapore CBI is being updated and revised in view of a 2020 re-launch.
